On Friday 18th September, Thorpe Lower School was thrilled to welcome Ian Bland, the poet, back again. The day began with two assemblies: one for Pre-Prep and one for Key Stage 2 boys. Ian had us in absolute stitches, his poems were so funny!  The boys loved joining in with ‘The Dinner Lady Dance’ and watching Mr Corriea and Mrs Doran take part in ‘Go To the Head’ and ‘I’ll Never Fall in Love Again’ performances with Ian.

Throughout the day every class enjoyed a poetry workshop with the talented Ian, whose background is in Primary teaching. Amongst the many learning opportunities the boys wrote Kennings poems; they included alliteration in poetry; rhythm and rhyme. Every boy collaborated to write a poem and everyone performed too. The day concluded with a wonderful Lower School outdoor assembly, during which boys showcased their wonderful work. A super time was had by all and we wish we could have Ian at Thorpe Lower more often!
