Year 9, 10 and 11 comprises our Upper School. We have a responsibility to ensure our students excel academically and to their best abilities. Year on year they never fail to impress us with their diligence at exam time; our excellent GCSE results, many of which are well above the national average, are indicative of this commitment to learning.
 

2023 GCSE results
• 97% achieving 5+ 9–4 inc English and Maths • 33% achieving 9–7 grade
• 32% achieving 5+ 9–7 grades
• 97% passing English and Maths

Nationally, 54% of students received grades that were a 5 or above.

At Thorpe, 80% of our students received grades that were a 5 or above.

Nationally, 22% of students received grades that were 7 or above; this figure is

20% for boys alone. At Thorpe, 32% of students receive grades that were 7 or above.

Nationally, 55% of students received grades of a 5 or above in English.

At Thorpe, 83% of students received grades of a 5 or above in English.

Nationally, 52% of students received a grade of 5 or above in Mathematics.

At Thorpe, 74% of students received a grade 5 or above in Mathematics.

Nationally, 68% of students received grades of a 4 or above. In Independent Schools nationally, 90% of students received grades of a 4 or above.
