Entry Points
At Thorpe House School, we offer a seamless and enriching educational journey for students aged 3 to 18, from Nursery and Prep School through to our co-educational Sixth Form. We understand that choosing the right entry point is a significant decision for your family.
This page provides a clear overview of each stage, highlighting what makes every phase of a Thorpe House education unique and how we nurture every student to explore their passions, develop their talents, and fulfil their ambition.

Nursery Entry
Our Nursery offers the perfect environment for young children to thrive, nurturing curiosity, confidence, and a love of learning from the very beginning. Each child receives personalised attention and benefits from a holistic approach that supports social, emotional, and academic development through a play-based curriculum designed to inspire exploration and joy every day.
Class sizes: our class sizes in Nursery are kept small with plenty of staff to ensure your child is receiving the nurturing attention they need at this key stage in their life.
Why join our Nursery? Choosing our Nursery gives your child the strongest possible start to their education. They’ll benefit from small class sizes, specialist teaching, and a nurturing environment where every child is known and supported. As part of an all-through school, children enjoy a seamless transition into Reception and beyond, surrounded by familiar faces, routines, and teachers who already understand their needs. This early connection builds confidence, belonging, and a love of learning that stays with them for years to come.

Prep School Entry
Our Prep School provides a vibrant and nurturing foundation for our youngest learners. From Reception to Year 6, children benefit from a stimulating curriculum designed to spark curiosity and build essential skills. We offer specialised music lessons, dedicated Forest School sessions, a weekly STEAM lesson and a weekly swimming lesson for each year group. Drama is taught by a specialist teacher and early language immersion begins with Spanish or French from Year 1.
Class sizes: in Prep School, the maximum number of pupils admitted to any class is 18, with a nominal full class size of 16. This ensures personalised attention and a supportive learning environment where individual needs are met.
Why join our Prep School? Joining us in Prep School offers the advantage of a consistent, familiar environment from the very beginning of their educational journey. Students settle quickly, build strong foundational relationships with peers and staff and benefit from a cohesive curriculum that prepares them seamlessly for Senior School.

Senior School Entry
Our Senior School provides a dynamic and challenging environment where students are encouraged to deepen their academic understanding and broaden their horizons.
Class sizes: in Years 7-8, the full class size is up to 18. For Years 9–11, the maximum number admitted to a class is 16, with a nominal full class size of 12. These small class sizes enable teachers to differentiate activities and provide tailored support, ensuring every student receives the appropriate level of challenge.
Why join our Senior School? Joining Senior School at Thorpe House means becoming part of a community that nurtures academic ambition and personal growth within a familiar and supportive setting. The all-through school advantage ensures consistent pastoral care and a deep understanding of each student's journey, eliminating the stress of external transitions.

Sixth Form Entry
Our co-educational Sixth Form offers young men and women first-class teaching in the heart of Gerrards Cross. This phase places a strong emphasis on academic achievement and the development of key life skills, leadership and exploration.
Students benefit from extended pastoral care and bespoke university and careers guidance, preparing them for their next steps beyond Thorpe House. Our Sixth Form provides a dynamic pre-university environment that builds upon the strong foundations laid in earlier years, creating independent and ambitious learners.
Why join our Sixth Form? The Thorpe House Sixth Form offers a seamless continuation of our all-through school journey, providing the familiarity and strong community bonds that allow students to thrive in a secure and ambitious setting. It's an ideal entry point for those seeking a focused, supportive and forward-thinking environment to prepare for university and future careers.
