Thorpe House School is celebrating its first-ever set of A-level results, marking a significant milestone in the history of the independent school, located in Gerrards Cross.

Reflecting on the A-Level results, Jake Burnett, Headteacher at Thorpe House School, said:

“These first A-level results represent a truly historic moment for Thorpe House School. To see our first Sixth Form cohort reach this point, just two years after we opened our doors to girls as well as boys, is something of which we are incredibly proud.

“The results demonstrate the ambition, determination and resilience of our students, alongside the commitment of our teaching and pastoral teams. Just as importantly, our students are now moving on to a wide range of exciting university and apprenticeship destinations, following subjects and pathways that reflect their individual interests and ambitions.

“Thorpe House has been educating young people for more than a century, and this first set of A-level results marks the beginning of a very exciting new chapter in the school’s history.”

Simon McCallion, Head of Sixth Form at Thorpe House School, said:

“We are delighted with the achievements of our very first Sixth Form cohort. Establishing a new Sixth Form has been a significant undertaking, and to see our pioneering group of founding students achieve such a strong set of results and progress to a fantastic range of universities and degree apprenticeship opportunities is a wonderful achievement.

“Our students have worked exceptionally hard, and these results are a reflection of their commitment and the support they have received from staff throughout their time at Thorpe House, as well as their families at home of course. We are particularly proud to see them progressing into such a broad range of subjects and future careers.

“We are really excited about beginning with a new cohort of Year 12s in September, and look forward to hearing from anyone interested in a place at Thorpe, once they gain their GCSE results on Thursday 20th. The nurturing of independence, and aspirational culture at the school will be a perfect fit for local students looking to succeed in life. A small number of places remain, but we expect them to be in great demand over the next few weeks.”

“This is an important moment for the Sixth Form, and a moment to celebrate with those students we have worked with so closely, but it is also just the beginning. We look forward to building on this success as our Sixth Form community continues to grow.”

The co-educational Sixth Form at Thorpe House School was launched in September 2024 as part of the school’s continued development, providing a pathway for students aged 16-18 and welcoming girls into the Thorpe House community for the first time.

As the school celebrates more than 100 years of education, the first A-level results provide an important foundation for the next chapter of Thorpe House School as a truly all-through school.
