In the heart of Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire our Sixth Form offers young men and women access to first-class teaching, with an emphasis on academic achievement, the development of key skills, leadership and exploration, extended pastoral care, and bespoke university and career guidance.

Planning your future
Bespoke university and careers guidance, provided by our experienced team and visiting guests, ensures that your future aspirations and goals are supported and nurtured – whether it be a university course (including at prestigious institutions like Oxford and Cambridge), a degree apprenticeship, sporting scholarship or sports academy, a gap year programme or a specific career choice, we are here to support you with your next step.

Studying built around you
No matter which qualification route you go down, we are here to help you make the right choice and succeed in your studies. The majority of our pupils study A Levels, but we can offer personalised pathways depending on your goals. This could include degree apprenticeships or BTEC programmes. We can also provide further guidance about organisations that can help to co-ordinate work or volunteering placements abroad.

LIFE AT THORPE HOUSE SIxTH FORM

From your social life and shared spaces to time off campus, you want to know that you'll enjoy your time here. Then, there are factors like personal support and the facilities we offer. We know you will love life at Thorpe House Sixth Form, and you can explore what that will be like below.
The need-to-know information

Entry requirements
We welcome both internal and external applicants to Thorpe House Sixth Form, where all students will study three qualifications, potentially alongside the EPQ.
In order to obtain a place at Thorpe House Sixth Form, students are required to achieve the GCSE English and Maths at grade 5 or above, with a minimum of 8 GCSEs at grade 4 or above.
Students who may not meet those entry requirements are fully encouraged to discuss their options with Mr McCallion to find the most suitable pathway for them.

Progress reports & feedback
We will monitor progress using regular assessments and in-class activities, and you will be able to discuss this, plus any required improvements and challenges, with your subject teachers and Mr. McCallion whenever you need.
As families would expect, we will have regular written reports and parents’ evenings to facilitate open and efficient communication. Formal exams at the end of Year 12 and mock exams in Year 13, as well as regular feedback, will improve examination techniques to ensure each student can reach their true potential.
