Lower School Welcome

Introducing the Lower School

Lower School comprises Reception (Early Years); Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2); and Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6). Year 6 provide a link to the Middle School and become role models for the younger boys.

Lower School is a vibrant and inclusive place to learn with small classes to ensure a high level of care and attention to every boy. Lower School boys are encouraged to embrace the values of kindness, friendship and respect, alongside perseverance and a love of learning.

These foundation years are focused on ensuring the core skills of literacy, numeracy, problem solving and individual expression are developed and supported as far as possible. This is in readiness for the transition to the Middle and Upper School

We also emphasise the importance on outdoor and physical learning, which includes swimming, PE, Games and Forest School. We also feel getting out into the local environment is important and run an extensive extra-curricular programme. The boys throughout Lower School enjoy learning experiences termly outside of school to further enhance their understanding of the real world by visiting musuems, art galleries and field study centres.
