Year 11 English

In the final year of GCSE students really prepare for both their mock and final examinations.  In each “joint unit” the students are fully focused on a variety of activities, usually based around past papers and sample examination tasks that help them refine and improve their skills. We sometimes use video resources to help recap set texts or embed skills.

Enrichment

Visits to theatres and outside venues to study set texts in a different format all help to enhance the learning.

Facilities

Teaching takes place in dedicated classrooms, which have access to a whiteboard for use of audio-visual and dynamic lesson delivery.

Autumn Term

Recap Unit – Language Paper 2 / A Christmas Carol

Students revise both units

Our objective is to refine student’s skills and re-visit set texts and improve critical / analytical and writing skills.

  • Usually this is done via a series of practical exam based exercises and use of past papers.

  • Students will attempt past papers / sample questions, which cover the range of skills needed to succeed.

  • Teacher and peer assessment, as well as modelling is used to develop skills and challenge students to improve their responses.
