Thorpe House School from the skies

Open Day Webinar- March 2021

What are your entry points?

Entry point is age 4 for Reception onwards. Boys are welcome to join the school in any year group where there is availability. We accept registration at any time for placement in the current or coming years. During normal circumstances boys are invited to come into Lower School in the October prior to entry for an informal social assessment. The purpose of the assessment is as much for the boy to get a feel for the school as for the school to get a feel for the boy.

In the summer term prior to entry, the Reception class teachers visit the new Reception intake either at their homes or their pre-school setting (if they attend one), before all the new intake (Reception – Year 2) come to a taster/moving-up session to familiarise themselves with the school and their new teachers and classmates. During the summer term prior to entry there is also a ‘meet the teacher’ event for parents, when teachers talk about the forthcoming year, the curriculum and the ‘New Parent Information’ pack is given out.

Are you currently accepting registrations?

What facilities do you have onsite?

The Lower School is fortunate to have it's own site based along Oval Way. We have just opened our brand new Multi-Purpose Hall - Griffin Hall, indoor swimming pool, performance hall, science laboratories, forest school, libraries, dining hall and sports field.

Do you have a learning support programme?

Thorpe House takes Learning Support seriously throughout the school.

We are proud of our reputation for identifying individual needs and building confidence in each boy in our care to help him achieve his potential - in some cases to exceed his expectations.

Our Learning Support Department works across the school, in partnership with parents and Form Tutors, to understand the whole boy and help nurture his development throughout his life at Thorpe. We focus on one-to-one and small group support in literacy and numeracy and we provide additional teaching support in the classroom.

We are encouraging, non-judgemental, patient and easy to talk to and we make sure that our parents are supported too, with clear communication, collaborative involvement and shared celebration in their son's progress

What pastoral care do you offer?

Outstanding pastoral care is what makes our school and its pupils so successful because when a boy feels valued, respected and happy in school, he will inevitably be more likely to succeed inside and outside the classroom. For more information please click here

What food do you provide?

We believe that a healthy, balanced diet will enhance their academic performance and boys well-being and engagement. Here are our menus
