Congratulations Thomas

Sunday 3rd November saw 120 young men from across Buckinghamshire attend the U16 county trials. The morning was spent doing a variety of drills looking at handling, tackling, evasion and kicking skills plus a whole lot more, followed by matches after lunch. All this while under the watchful eye of a team of assessors looking at your every move, who were looking to select two players per position.

Thorpe Y3 v St Bernards Prep

Thursday 23rd January saw 2 teams head to St Bernard’s Prep School for their 1st match of the season.

A’s - What followed was a superb and very competitive match with both teams creating scoring opportunities. However, it wasn’t long before Thorpe found the net, half time came a Thorpe were leading 1-0. The second half lived up to the excitement of first, both teams created scoring opportunities with both goalkeepers making goal stopping saves. After a period of pressure St Bernards equalised 1-1. Both teams pushed for the winner and with moments to go Thorpe found the net 2-1. A great team effort, along with some individual skill contributed to a great match.

B’s – Another great game, Thorpe House players keeping the ball for long periods, quickly found the net. It wasn’t long before they found the net twice 1-0. Halftime and the boys had a deserved lead. The second half kicked off, just like the first half the boys were playing with confidence and it wasn’t before they found the net again 2-0. St Bernard's responded quickly finding the goal 2-1. Both teams continued to press, looking for the next goal, a well timed pass and Thorpe had scored again 3-1. A real team effort with all the boys playing their part in a wonderful game of football.

A’s won 2- 1

B’s won 3-1

What a run!! Wrexham beating Arsenal in 1992, Chesterfield 1997, Wycombe 2001, all amazing cups run and now Thorpe in 2019/20.

The Under 14s reached the final stages of the National Cup, beating several well-known football schools on the way. They faced St John's Enfield in the last 8 of the competition. We did go 1 nil up in the game, but after missing several chances to bring the game close. Thorpe lost 6-1. St John's had several professional club players in their team, including the current U15 England Captain.

Well done boys on a great effort and representing Thorpe so well!

U15s Thorpe House Basketball victorious

Thorpe played a Basketball game against CCC. We are always happy to get boys fixtures if they ask for them in niche areas and we have two superstars in Year 10 at Basketball.

Sam and Dom controlled the game from start to finish. Sam is an excellent point scorer, he drives really well with the ball and scored 20 of Thorpe’s 38 points. Dom carried the ball well from the team and is outstanding defensively. Well done to all the boys on this great win!

Nov 18th
U16 vs Burnham Grammar
It was your usual November afternoon as the Senior boys took on Burnham Grammar at home. This was definitely a game for the spectators, it had everything hard running by Patrick OD and Ben BR, fierce tackling from Luke B and Sam Y, some touches of class from Paraic and Sam D and the sheer pace and power from Thomas L. All  the boys played a massive part in this game though and played the game patterns really well. It was a close game all the way through with Thorpe scoring first and the game sea sawing backwards and forwards. It was tense right at the end of the game as Thorpe were trailing by 7 points, it took a mammoth effort for the boys to crash over the try line 2 minutes after the game could have finished. All that was left was the pressure kick from near the right hand touch line. Up steps Paraic, who was not overly confident. He placed the ball marked and his run up, Paraic approached the ball and slipped right at the point of contact. It was almost as if the world had gone into slow motion as everyone looked on! The ball bounced off the crossbar and went over! That was it, the Thorpe boys erupted with joy. The final score 24 all.

Year 4 Rugby

17th Sept vs The Beacon

It’s always windy at the Beacon’s sports field and this Tuesday was no different. The Year 4 A team boys came out with the correct attitude to play rugby and the game itself was a close one. Both teams demonstrated some excellent tackling and a wonderful ability to run with the ball. Unfortunately Thorpe were just beaten 5 tries to 4 by the Beacon B team but there were some heroic tackling displays from Jake B and William G, with Harry W running in the scores. Their second game came against the C team and which our boys were victorious 6 tries to 2.

12th Nov vs St Bernards

Today was a great day for Rugby! The Year 4 boys have been working hard all season to improve their game and today everything came together. The final score was Thorpe 13

St Bernards 8, again the tackling from all of the boys was fantastic, getting in low strong positions and linked with a strong running and passing performance meant the boys were able to score a lot of points. The B team were unlucky today and lost out 5 tries to 4, but there has been lots of improvements and the B team boys were getting stuck in and making strong runs and positive tackles. Well done to all involved.
