Forest Fun For Everyone by Deen Pirbhai, Head Boy for Prep

Today was a good day! Today we did something different! Today we returned to the Valley Of Doom!

It’s been a long time since 6JM had visited the forest, so the excitement amongst us all was obvious. Even when we were changing into our waterproofs there were many smiles.

One of our first tasks was to find the Valley Of Doom. Immediately this tested our teamwork skills, as well as our patience. However, after a few wrong turns we all managed to assemble in the Valley. Shortly after that the ratrace task began. In this challenge we had to relay race down and around the Valley Of Doom as a team. The tricky part was climbing up the steep hill on the other side of the Valley whilst keeping with our partner, who was running alongside us. Although it was hardwork we loved the competitive edge especially because we were being timed!!! At this point I would like to mention that my team won… convincingly…by one whole minute!!!

Eventually we went to the Badger’s Rest where we constructed our own dens before coming together to build fires. Only some of us were able to light the fire. However, those who didn’t showed great resilliance and never gave up. The only disappointment was the lack of hot chocolate at the end of the day… But I’m sure there will be other opportunities in the future. I look forward to more team tasks, I look forward to more rat racing and I look forward to more adventures in the forest.
