Pupils at Thorpe House have once again achieved outstanding results in their GCSEs, despite the extraordinary challenges they have faced over the past year and a half.

GCSE Results

The school has exceeded last year’s overall performance with 48.4% of all grades marked at 7-9 which is a record breaking set of results for Thorpe House.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the school has continued to deliver lessons throughout this time, either in person at school or virtually, and it is wonderful to see how the pupils have been able to take advantage of the provision and excel.

Among other headlines:

  • 48.4% of results were at grades 7-9
  • 100% of pupils passed maths at grades 4-9
  • 100% of pupils passed English Language at grades 4-9

Of the cohort of 29 pupils, four achieved a clean sweep of 7-9 grades with fourteen of the boys achieving at least 5 or more of their GCSEs graded 7-9.

Following these excellent results, pupils have secured places at the following schools to continue their education: Dr Challoner’s, RGS High Wycombe, John Lyon, Chesham Grammar, John Hampden Grammar.

Nicholas Pietrek, Headmaster of Thorpe House, said:

“This has been an extraordinary year for our pupils but they have shown incredible fortitude and resilience. Their commitment and dedication to their studies, under the most adverse of circumstances, has genuinely been inspiring and it is fantastic to see them rewarded with these thoroughly deserved results.

The staff at the school have worked tirelessly to support the pupils and ensure that whether they were delivering remote lessons or teaching them here at school, they have continued to fire the imagination of our boys and keep their passions and enthusiasm for their education alive.

Congratulations to every single Thorpe House pupil receiving their results today – you have been an inspiration to us all at the school and you should feel incredibly proud of all you have achieved. Thank you to the staff, parents and everyone who has supported the boys throughout their time at Thorpe House.”
