Mr Pietrek (seventh from Left) with Governors of Thorpe House School.
Thorpe House School is eagerly anticipating the arrival of its new Headmaster, Mr Nicholas Pietrek, in September 2019. A brief biography is below for information.
Mr Pietrek was educated at RGS Guildford before continuing his studies at Royal Holloway University of London and attending The College of Law in Guildford to pursue his intended career in Law. However, during a period of volunteer work with a Christian youth organisation called FOCUS in the USA before starting work, Mr Pietrek realised that he would rather be giving children the very best start in life than picking up the pieces later! Therefore, after two years in the USA, he returned to the UK and completed his teaching qualification. Mr Pietrek started his career at two schools in Guildford, teaching History and English, before moving to Aldenham School in Hertfordshire where he took on a wide array of roles during his ten years there including Head of History, Boarding Housemaster, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Cricket coach and he also ran over 30 overseas trips. In 2012, Mr Pietrek moved to Birkdale School, one of the two leading independent schools in Sheffield, to become Deputy Head. Very similar to Thorpe House, Birkdale has Christian values and is an all-through school for boys from 4 to 16 with a co-ed Sixth Form. During his time there, he has been Acting Headmaster and completed his Masters in Educational Leadership and Management at Nottingham University.
Mr Pietrek is very excited about joining Thorpe House and looks forward to cementing and enhancing the pastoral and academic opportunities offered by the school. As his two sons will be enrolling in Prep and Pre-Prep respectively, we are fortunate that the school will have the added benefit of his parental perspectives as well as those of a Headmaster.
If you are looking at schools for your son, please do come along and meet Mr Pietrek at one of our Open Mornings on Saturday 12 or Tuesday 15 October to learn more about his vision for Thorpe House. We would be delighted to welcome you and your son!
