The Griffin, an animal that is half eagle and half lion, it represents wisdom, strength, and cunning in Greek mythology. Because the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts, and the eagle the king of the birds, by the Middle Ages the griffin was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. Since classical antiquity, griffins were known for guarding treasures and priceless possessions.

The Duke of Edinburgh awards are always an amazing time and have created some of the best memories I have of Thorpe. In our most recent expedition for our silver awards, my group of 6 strapping intrepid adventurers set out on a three-day journey, camping out on two nights, along the Kennet & Avon canal….
