Enjoying ‘The Winter Hedgehog’

The Reception boys really enjoyed listening to the story of ‘The Winter Hedgehog’ by Ann and Reg Cartwright. They had a go at drama improvisation, re-enacting the adventures of the little hedgehog who wanted to ‘find winter’! They became very good at repeating the refrain, ‘Winter is beautiful; but it is dangerous, cruel and very, very cold!’ During Literacy this week, the boys are going to write character descriptions and a letter to the Winter Hedgehog.

They love using the new writing areas in Early Years and are working hard to have their writing displayed on the ‘Writer of the Week’ board, which our parents are welcome to view in Miss Wilton’s classroom. The boys asked to learn about ice and salt spreader vehicles last week, so this book links in with their interests!
